In recent years Kranendonk has continuously been working on improving the quality of their products, while keeping up to date with developments in software applications, cutting, welding and sensor technology. At the same time, both explorations to go into new markets and development of the current market presence always has a strong focus.
Over the last years, Asia has intensively been restructuring their shipbuilding industry with a strong focus on implementing state of the art technology and extensive co-operations with well-known western shipbuilding companies. All with the goal to take a step into the future and consolidate their commercial shipbuilding activities. Furthermore, China has become the largest robotic market with 40% of global sales being in China, with ABB Robotics, of which Kranendonk is an authorized value provider, being the market leader for several years in a row. Kranendonk strongly believes entering this substantial market with a dedicated local partner is the best way.

With this in-depth partnership, Kranendonk will be able to enter the Chinese and Taiwanese market, a goal that is best realizable with a good local partner. Furthermore, the joint venture makes it possible to keep increasing the focus on engineering and innovation, and further develop Kranendonk’s position as the robot technology centre for non-repetitive production worldwide. The robot technology centre position is maintained by simultaneously fulfilling the roles of engineer, supplier, supporter and partner. A key part of this position is the ability to continuously work on new robot applications. Consulting the world's largest manufacturers in optimizing their production flow, with a clear specialism in shipbuilding, offshore construction and structural steel fabrication.
Arie Kranendonk will keep leading the company as acting CEO and Muri de Keizer is appointed as CFO. With this acquisition, Kranendonk has found the right partner to strengthen its already positive perspective into the future, consolidate its current market presence and expand in the Asian market. These plans will be realized in phases, starting with the establishment of a dedicated office in Shanghai this year. Kranendonk will strive for a strong global footprint as an independent brand and will keep a deep focus on its customer demands locally. Production automation in shipbuilding, offshore construction and structural steel fabrication are, and will remain the main market segments for the company.
