When it comes to edge rounding, there are many factors that can influence the quality of the final product. This starts already at the steel mill where the production process directly impacts material tolerances. Once on site, plates are often stored outside or in areas without a controlled (temperature) environment. We all know that taking plate material from the outside on the yard into the workshop causes the plates to expand or shrink as a result of the difference in temperature. For the plate burning process, this is not so relevant as the geometry is created accurately by removing excess material. However, for the edge rounding process (e.g. 2mm radius), half a millimeter off means a big difference for the quality and approval/rejects.
