Kranendonk has engineered and delivered robotized, CNC- and PLC-controlled, one piece production systems for the industry since 1989. Over these years Kranendonk has supplied many welding gantries and with this experience we have developed a H-beam Welding Gantry suitable for welding stiffeners, foot and head plates into medium and large sized built up beams. The system

The H-beam Stiffener Welding Gantry is developed to perform multi layer welding of stiffeners, foot and head plates into medium and large sized built up beams. The actual welding is performed by industrial robots suspended from a traveling gantry. The H-beam Stiffener Welding Gantry is able to weld transversal, longitudinal and vertical welds. If the welding gantry is equipped with two robots even simultanious welding of double fillet welds is possible. During the welding process monitoring and logging takes place to assure that quality standards are met.

ARAC software

The H-beam Stiffener Welding Gantry is supplied with Kranendonk ARAC software. The advanced ARAC software combines easy macro programming of the robots with simple graphical online cell and process control. No manual programming is required, since all production data is obtained directly from a CAD system database. With Kranendonk ARAC software constant change of production and product variation is possible.

Operation

Tackwelders themselves operate the gantry. After tackwelding, their only task is to point out the work order and the location of the H-beam on the touchscreen. Beams may be placed randomly in the work area. Because, automatically after the robots finished their present work, the gantry will find unattended the exact location and orientation of the indicated beam. The system will then automatically generate and execute the welding programs for that unique beam. This means the operator can completely focus on the production quality and flow.
