In the steel constructions, most beams are reinforced using stiffener plates and sometimes endplates. Since no product is same, robotizing this requires a flexible solution. KRANENDONK’s robotic welding systems are equipped with intelligent software which makes a new robot program for each product. The required information is retreived directly from 3D CAD model including prefered weld data.
Since sizes of products differ per customer different solutions for robot extension can be supplied. The tracks, gantries and lines which are all used as integrated axes. This means the tracks, gantries and lines are controlled by the robot and therefre are able to work together.
Beam welding track
In a beam welding track, one or more robots travel alongside the product. This is suitable solution when welding heavy beams or box girders, that need to be lifted with fixed cranes. The beams do not have to be placed in an exact position, since the robots will automatically find the product. Advanced sensors enable shopfloor operators to safely work close to the robot. The robots can perform multi-layer welding and also be equipped with the SAW welding process.
Beam welding gantry
A welding gantry is a traveling portal that suspends one or more robots. The beam welding gantry is developed to perform multi-layer welding of stiffners and end plates to large sized beams. The gantry travel movement is highly accurate and is used during welding. To realize a continuous production flow, the multi station concept is used. While the robot is welding on one part of the beam, operators can assemble and tack weld beams elsewhere on the floor. The solution is suitable for welding of heavy beams. The beams can be randomly placed, and will be automatically detected by the welding robots.
Beam welding portal
A fixed portal is combined with turning equipment, to allow automatic processing of beams on all sides. The fixed frame supports two robots, that travel along beam.
